Originally from Bordeaux this variety reaches optimum maturity in the stony soils of Murviel-les-Montpellier. A fairly unkown variety, Petit Verdot gives small flavour-packed grapes that produce a rich and well-structured wine. Top-grafted in 2013 onto old deep-rooted Grenache vines.
Hand-picked in small containers and fermented in small open-top tanks for 10 to 12 days, a light daily punch-down of the cap gives subtle and supple tannins. We use a vertical wooden press to extract only the best press wine, the wine is aged for 12 months before bottling.
Devilishly dark in colour, this wine is dense and mysterious. Aromas of blackberry, wild mint and cassis are followed by balanced acidity and a hint of oak on the palate, fine tannins and a silky mouthfeel make this a perfect wine for entertaining. If possible decant 30 minutes ahead.
